Ensure that the substrate has passed a curing time of 28 days and that its moisture content is less than 10%. Remove by washing and brushing any efflorescence. Old paintwork should be totally removed. Any leveling or redoing should be done with mortars compatible with potassium silicate (pre-mixed plasters, lime, cement).

Old surfaces:
Remove dust and old paint that is coming off, widen any cracks and fill them with filler. Completely remove old lime or tempera paints.
If mold is present, provide an appropriate anti-mold treatment.
Prime surfaces with a silicate-based fixative.
