PETRA

Hi! I am Pasquale Semeraro and I welcome you in this second chapter about PLATINUM LINE.

Today I talk about PETRA, a decoration with bright and natural effects.

Its name PETRA comes from the fact that it can decorate the walls and you have the feeling of having a real stone wall.

It was said that, at the time of its creation, we had to choose as component a simple and natural material in order to reach the peak both in its aesthetic expression both in its natural origins. Moreover, thanks to the growing environmental needs viewed in an ecological and environmental way, we rediscover a very ancient raw material such as lime, which could fully synthesize the concepts we wanted to express:

• Ecology
• Roughness
• Environment
• Natural Beauty
• Simplicity

Despite being a simple and ancient material, lime fits perfectly with the current needs of a market that is always looking more well-being and memories that recall to mind the sweet smells, the colors and the sense of belonging to a society born between the scents of the countryside  and the small old villages that the entire world envies us.

In addition, lime is a product quite natural, with a low environmental impact; it is anti-mould and antibacterial (qualities or features that are often looking in other products, but that Mother Nature gives us).

Thanks to all these qualities, we use lime to create a product that has a material effect increasingly popular and increasingly chic, PETRA.

PETRA is a filling coating with self-polishing thickness made of bicarbonate lime paste, marble dust and natural additives.

Thanks to its particular features, PETRA is ideal for creating unique and incomparable effects, such as the natural aspect of stone, old plasters, but also the imitation of a cloth.

In fact, if you are dealing with the creativity of an architect, rather than of an interior designer or maybe you have a great imagination, fantasy and clever hands, you can simply have refined modern and ancient results.

To fully exalt its features, it is advisable to apply two or three coats of our decorative product “DELICATO” (decoration which will be discussed in the next chapters) with contrasting colors, creating three-dimensional effects.

PETRA can be applied to any rural surface, by preparation of the support, allowing the maximum breathability, favoring the natural diffusion of humidity through the plaster and the walls and avoiding the formation of mold and bacteria over the years. If you want to make PETRA washable, it is enough to apply a coat of our product “ANTICHE CERE” as it is or diluted to 30%.

PREPARATION OF THE SURFACE

New surfaces: make sure that the supports are completely dry. If there are molds, treat the surface with suitable products. Remove possible efflorescence and paints that are peeling off with brushes and washes.  Prime the surface with a coat of our product “SABBIAFOND PER MARMOREO” diluted with water to 20-25%.

Old surfaces: remove old paints that are peeling off. Tempera paintings must be removed with brushes and washes. Prime the surface with a coat of our product “SABBIAFOND PER MARMOREO” diluted with water to 20-25%.

APPLICATION

PETRA is ready for use. After applying a coat of “SABBAFOND PER MARMOREO”, proceed with the preparation of the paint with the colors of the color chart and let it stand for at least twenty-four hours in order to insure a perfect drying.

Spread the product evenly on the surface with a steel spatula and then, depending on the desired aesthetic effect, use the appropriate tool (palette knife, trowel, brush, and so on).

Before the product is quite dry, pass again the steel spatula to press relief parts and to compact everything.

Wait about ten minutes and pass again the palette knife, which is inclined and well cleaned, on the whole surface. So you will have a shiny and smooth surface.

When PETRA is quite dry, you can apply, with a sponge or a glove, a coat of our product “ANTICHE CERE” as it is or diluted with water to 30%.

You can also color “ANTICHE CERE” with our toner. Or you always apply, with a sponge or a glove, a coat of our product “DELICATO” diluted with water to 30% or a coat of our product “SOFT”.

ADDITIONAL EFFECTS

CRACK EFFECT

1°phase: after an appropriate preparation of the wall, apply a coat of our product “SABBIAFOND PER MARMOREO” diluted to 20-25%.

After twenty-four hours, apply PETRA with a stainless-steel trowel. When the operation is complete, wait a few minutes and proceed with the drawing, using obliquely the appropriate tool and trying to imitate the streak of a stone split in two.

Wait until PETRA begins to dry and pass again on the whole surface with a stainless-steel trowel to compact everything. When PETRA is almost completely dry, wipe the surface with the stainless-steel trowel to give PETRA a final shiny effect.

When PETRA is quite dry, it is possible to finish off the work applying with a sponge two coats of our product “DELICATO” in all its variations of colors, diluted with water to 30%.

SMOOTH EFFECT

1°phase: after an appropriate preparation of the wall, apply a coat of our product “SABBIAFOND PER MARMOREO” diluted to 20-25%.

After twenty-four hours, apply PETRA with a stainless-steel trowel. When the operation is complete, wait until the product begins to dry and pass again the whole surface with the stainless-steel trowel to give PETRA a first smoothing and compactness.

When PETRA is almost completely dry, wipe the surface with the stainless-steel trowel to give PETRA a final shiny effect.

When PETRA is quite dry, it is possible to finish off the work applying with a sponge two coats of our product “DELICATO” in all its variations of colors, diluted with water to 30%.

ANTIQUE EFFECT

1°phase: after an appropriate preparation of the wall, apply a coat of our product “SABBIAFOND PER MARMOREO” diluted to 20-25%.

After twenty-four hours, apply a coat of PETRA with a stainless-steel trowel. It is advisable to cover a surface of about 1 to 2 square meters and then, with a toothed spatula, wipe everything in an irregular way. Make this operation until the entire area is complete.

When the operation is complete, wait until the product begins to dry and pass again the whole surface with the stainless-steel trowel to give PETRA a first smoothing and compactness.

When PETRA is almost completely dry, wipe the surface with the stainless-steel trowel to give PETRA a final shiny effect.

When PETRA is quite dry, it is possible to finish off the work applying with a sponge two coats of our product “DELICATO” in all its variations of colors, diluted with water to 30%.
