Hello! Today I want to talk about « ELASTUK » and what this product can do.
Have you ever had to fill the junctions between two substrates and then, after some time, to have the joint visible because of the cracks that have been created??
If you are a layer, you know very well that, despite the greatest possible effort by you, this situation can also occur because of the settlings of the structures. But you also know that, as is appropriate in the case, your customer won’t be happy to see them.
You can explain that it does not depend on you, that it is a structural factor, but your customer won’t certainly be happy to see, perhaps at home, this type of break after spending some money to make his environment beautiful and elegant.
You also know that you can have this type of problem even when you have to:
- Remove the imperfections of a wall
- Close holes on a wall
- Eliminate the hollows of a wall
- Smooth uneven surfaces
- Close cracks of a certain size
- Restore the wall substrate after having made traces for water or electricity systems
- Join two different substrates, such as wall and plasterboard
Unfortunately there is always the risk of having to give the right technical explanations to your customer, but they are not always willingly accepted; indeed, very often, whether you want it or not, the blame lies with you, layer.
- You can’t say that you have mistakenly purchased a filler with low quality and yield, your professional competence would be involved;
- You can’t say that your dealer has sold you an unsuitable or poor quality product, here too your professional competence would be involved;
- You can’t even put yourself in the condition of having to repeat a job twice, especially for economic reasons.
So what do you do to avoid finding yourself in this situation??
Let’s start by giving some practical examples.
HOLE IN THE WALL TO BE FILLED AND TO BE APPLIED A FILLER
As you can see in this image, many times you can find in front of holes that are not really small and easily filled, both because the filler shrinks too much and because over time some cracks could create.
With « ELASTUK » the problem is solved by simply filling the hole as with a normal filler and then, where necessary, use a finer – grained filler in order to make even more homogeneous the substrate to carry out the normal subsequent traditional operations.
CRACKS IN THE WALL TO BE FILLED
In this second image, you can see a crack, which usually can reform with time. Thanks to the use of « ELASTUK », it doesn’t form again anymore.
Just like the holes, it will be enough to apply « ELASTUK » and then use a thinner traditional filler in order to ensure even the best aesthetic effect.
JOINTS OF PLASTERBOARD PANELS
Thanks to its elastic power, « ELASTUK » allows you to be used to join plasterboard panels, thus avoiding over time to have long and anti – aesthetic cracks.
Used as a base of filler on a classical small net, you will obtain a result that won’t disappoint you over time, unlike what often happens.
JOIN TWO DIFFERENT SUBSTRATES
When you are faced with this situation, there are several variables that cause subsequently the crack of the filler used.
First of all you have the problem of the difference in expansion between the two substrates; in fact, there will be irregular movements between them because of different expansions at different temperatures. And then, since these are two surfaces that are independent of each other, their oscillations, perhaps due to the settlings, will consequently be independent of each other.
The elastic power of « ELASTUK » allows you to better protect yourself from this problem and sleep more peacefully, unlike those you would do with the use of another product.
RESTORE THE WALL SUBSTRATE AFTER HAVING MADE TRACES FOR WATER OR ELECTRICITY SYSTEMS
It is possible to remedy this type of situations, provided that a fairly consistent substrate is created under and that no very deep spaces are created to be filled.
JOIN TWO SURFACES
Join two surfaces without the risk of being a short time later with the usual surprise of the crack: from now on it is possible.
Up to 10 mm depth, surfaces can be filled and there are no problems thanks to the evolution of the fibres contained in « ELASTUK ».
Its elastic and adhesion properties will do the rest of the work that other types of fillers can’t do.
PERFECT FILLER FOR OUTDOOR WORKS
I left this topic last not because it is the least popular, indeed this is probably the main strength of « ELASTUK » .
In fact, its properties allow its use outdoors thanks to its resistance to atmospheric agents and temperature changes.
Think now if it is already excellent for the outside, what can it does inside.
WHAT IS « ELASTUK » ?
I don’t want to bore you with too technical details, so I will try to be very essential in the explanation.
« ELASTUK » is an elastic filler in ready – to – use paste, reinforced with fibres and, for this reason, it is ideal for filling and leveling. It is unique of its kind, even if not inimitable.
This product is suitable to eliminate imperfections, cracks, holes, micro cracks, hollows, leveling irregular surfaces.
It has an excellent filling capacity of up to 10 mm with a minimum of shrinkage.
« ELASTUK » is easy to apply and to sand and it has an excellent adhesion and hardness on the substrate.
It can be applied to new and old plasters, gypsum and plasterboard surfaces, as well as on old paints provided that they are well adherent.
This product can be coated with any type of water paint, or even with wallpaper.
HOW « ELASTUK » IS TO BE APPLIED TO SURFACES?
The substrate must be consistent and compact; therefore, if it is not, it is necessary to consolidate the substrate in any case.
If the substrate begins to dissolve, an acrylic water or solvent – based fixative should first be used.
On new plasters, remove any efflorescence by washing and scraping, as is customary.
In the presence of old paints, remove all the parts that are peeling off.
In the case of paints based on lime or tempera, remove them by washing and scraping.
« ELASTUK » is sold in packs of 5 or 20 kg and it can be stored for one year in a cool and dry place (max 40° C).
Thank you again for the time you have spent reading this article, and I hope you have found it useful.
If it is so, do not hesitate to share it with your friends or with people who need it.
