The decoration of a building, whether it is interior or exterior, is increasingly a growing need that can maximize the image of the building itself.
Over the years, however, we have become accustomed to differentiating the interior with the exterior, while actually in recent times, studies and tests on new product compositions are giving us amazing results on the application of new decors that are good for both the interior, but especially the exterior of the building.
After PETRA and OXIDE, ONICE is added to the family of interior and exterior decors.
Onyx is a reinterpretation of our Marmoreal, so a decorative that meets the demands of adjectives such as Charm, Luster and Refinement and creates a TIMELESS ELEGANCE.
So imagine being able to decorate your villa or areas of your villa, with a polished marble effect and transform it already from its exterior into something unique and Elegant.
Today all this is possible thanks to ONICE.
What is ONICE and its main features.
ONICE is a self-polishing putty based on potassium silicate (a compound with a high silicon and potassium content available in aqueous solution, water-soluble, used and very important in mineral treatments) that is to be applied on NOT treated plaster. It has high permeability to water vapor and thus to condensation. It has excellent adhesion to the substrate to which it is to be applied, which must be an untreated plaster. It has a high resistance to atmospheric agents.
ONICE is particularly suitable and recommended in historic buildings for its antiqued finish typical of lime finishes, but also excellent in new construction on untreated plaster, both interior and exterior and where, excellent weathering resistance and high water vapor permeability are required.
It is applied on mineral plasters, unpainted and previously treated with PRIMER AI SILICATI.
Let's see how ONICE works and reacts.
It is a mineral filler based on modified potassium silicate, selected fillers and pigments resistant to natural light, suitable for interior and exterior use. Potassium silicate reacting with carbon dioxide from the air, gives rise to a strongly alkaline chemical reaction called silicification. This chemical process, leads to the consolidation of the substrate all the way down, thus eliminating the phenomenon of flaking.
Once dry, it creates a coating without film formation, with high permeability to the passage of water vapor, excellent resistance to aging, good resistance to weathering, good resistance to temperature changes, and very low dirt retention.
How ONICE should be applied
Ensure that the substrate has passed a curing time of 28 days and that its moisture content is less than 10%.
Remove by washing and brushing any efflorescence.
Old paintwork should be totally removed.
Any leveling or resurfacing should be done with mortars compatible with potassium silicate (pre-mixed plasters, lime, cement).
If mold is present, an appropriate restorative treatment should be carried out.
Regarding environmental conditions for the application of ONICE, the substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point in order to prevent condensation.
Before applying ONICE, be careful to avoid application where there is excessive condensation or under the direct action of sunlight. And to NOT apply the product on damp surfaces or in rain or strong wind or on surfaces that are waterproof or already treated with paint.
Technical tips for ONICE application
Apply one coat of SILICATE PRIMER, allow to dry and spread the first coat of ONICE using the steel trowel in circular movements, and cover the entire surface. When dry, apply a second coat of ONICE in the same manner as the first. When dry, polish with the steel trowel held flush.
