In fact, often, due to loose stone foundations that don’t isolate well the building, the moisture of the underground goes up again to our both internal and external walls.

How we can identify a problem of the damp rising?

A common feature is the presence of a layer, in the lower part of the walls, of fine powders, damp patches or mould, very often accompanied also with the existing paint that is peeling off.

You can solve this problem in two ways:

• The first is a very invasive and very expensive operation, that is to recreate loose stone foundations or hollow spaces to avoid the contact of the walls with the ground. To do this, it is necessary to consult a qualified technician. (Method recommended in situations really extreme)
• The second intervention is much less invasive and much less expensive. Now I talk about this in detail.

PROCEDURE

Now we see what is the best way and the right technique to eliminate the problem of the damp rising in our environments in a simple and little expensive way.

1. The first operation to do is to eliminate the plaster with the damp patch up to a metre beyond the visible part to the naked eye.
2. Restore the part eliminated with a lightened bio plaster, that is suited to the recovering of the damp walls.
3. Once restored the plaster, apply a concrete – based filler to level our support.
4. Apply a coat of fixative siloxane; in our case, it is SILOX PRIMER.
5. Apply SILOX if it is an internal wall; apply SILOX QUARZO – ELASTOSILOX – SILOX INTONACHINO if it is an external wall.

This procedure described above is the best method that you can apply; everything else is just a stopgap method that will not help you. So if you want to avoid waste of time and of money, avoid like the plague any other solution.

SECTION OF TECHNICAL EXPLANATION OF THE SILOXANE PRODUCTS

The cycle to the siloxane products was established by the more recent researches conducted on the siloxane resins.

These are polymers with a mineral organic mixed matrix that combine silicon from quartz sand and organic radicals, giving the product a structure with the features of acrylic resins and all the properties of natural products.

One of the most important qualities of the siloxane is to give the support an extraordinary breathability and so the rapid discharge of water vapour and of moisture.

HIGH PENETRATION

The components of the water paints based on siloxane resins provide a high level of penetration.

The low surface tension and the very fine particles of resin ensure a great anchorage to various supports and a considerable resistance and hardness.

ELASTOSILOX

• Elastomeric siloxane paint

It is a paint in emulsion based on siloxane and acrylic resins modified with an elastomeric copolymer; they give the product not only an excellent water repellency and a very good breathability to the water vapour and to the moisture, but also a high resistance to the alkali environments.

The particular raw materials, that are all of the highest quality at low environmental impact and that compose this product, gives it an excellent permanent flexibility and an elevated anti – mould and anti – algae power.

This paint is very used to protect the surfaces prepared with lime or cement plasters, or on facades with problems of cracks, fissures, damages, especially when you want an excellent resistance to the bad weather linked to the a good breathability and water repellency.

It adheres perfectly also to the old paints on condition that they are very adherent.

SILOX INTONACHINO

• Filler
• Permeable to the water vapour
• Water repellent and anti – mould/ anti – algae

It is a quartz siloxane coating for the exterior and the interior, composed of inert siliceous substances, granular marble, siloxane copolymer, pigments and various additives which give the product an excellent repellency to water and to humidity.

The addition of multivalent bactericidal and anti – mould  additives makes the coating unassailable by various microorganisms.

All the raw materials used to make the product are of highest quality and they have a low environmental impact.

This product can be applied on the old and new plasters based on hydraulic cements, as a filler or as a paint that levels this product.

It can be used on the old both organic and mineral paint, on the condition that they are absorbing and linked.
