How to restore our terrace or porch, easily and avoiding water infiltration.

After this just past winter season, the time has come in many homes to carry out minor renovation work on the solar slab.

Logically, I am addressing situations such that we can work in prevention and therefore not serious situations, where the damage has already been done and therefore needs the advice and experience of professional technicians.

Preventing with these steps, can help you avoid very intrusive works, often due to improper handling of small problems.

Falling snow, winter frosts, tend to create lesions to our solar pavement that can often lead to water infiltration into our homes.

To prevent this, during the spring period it would be best to take action by waterproofing our terrace.

Don’t necessarily think about workers invading your house with crazy equipment, sometimes you just need to put in some healthy DIY and someone to explain how to operate.

That’s why today I want to take you through and explain how it’s possible to operate on your own.

Here I will illustrate 3 common cases to operate, in case you have special situations, do not hesitate to contact me or contact one of our dealers who will show you the best solution.

CASE 1: CORIGLIANE CHIANCHE

  • First of all, we need to do a good cleaning of the substrate, possibly using a pressure washer and doing it in such atmospheric conditions as to allow it to dry quickly; try to remove all the detaching parts of any other previously used products where there are any. Once our slab has dried well, and watch out for this detail, because it could cause the creation of bubbles where the substrate was still damp, spread a coat of Pliolite primer that will have the function of an adhesion agent for our insulation. At this point the next step is to make the first coat of the insulating product diluted to about 25 percent with water. Once it has dried, proceed with the second coat, but this time diluted to 15% with water. The drying time between the first and second stage, depends greatly on the atmospheric temperature, and varies from 3 to 24 hours. We regardless always recommend that the two phases always be done on 2 different days, to allow even the shaded areas to dry best.

CASE 2: CEMENT BRICKS or CEMENT SLABS.

  • As in the first case always carry out a good cleaning of the substrate, as mentioned above. Once our slab or porch has dried well, you can make the first application of the product, diluting it at 40% with water. As you may have noticed in this case there is no need to make the application of the primer because the support is already suitable to be waterproofed, and it is the same insulating product that acts as a primer in this situation. Once the first step has dried, you can make the second one by diluting it to 10/15%.

CASE : OTHER MEDIA

  • In the case of other types of substrates such as terracotta, which is used a lot in verandas, once a good cleaning has been carried out, as explained in the first case, it is necessary to Primer the substrate with a water-based primer, after which carry out the application of the product with a dilution of 25% in the first coat and 15% in the second.

What equipment do you need to be able to do all this?

Simply a bucket to be able to mix and dilute the product, a short-haired roller rather than a honeycomb roller to be able to spread the product.

As you can see the whole thing is very simple, and you can really do it all yourself, without necessarily having to go to someone else.

Now allow me to get a little bit of hype going by showing you what are our products to use in case you want to make sure that what I have explained is perfect for you as well.

First of all, the product in question is called RESINGUM, and it is an elastic finish based on styrene-acrylic emulsions with internal plasticization.

You have the option of choosing White, Red, Gray or Transparent color, this depends on your aesthetic choices and does not affect its performance or anything else at all.

In the case of choosing the White color, know that it has in itself an important feature which is that of its reflective power which is 80%, and therefore also allows for excellent thermal insulation during hot weather.

You also want me to tell you one more thing?

RESINGUM is a product that also allows you to convey your wastewater to wells, and without altering their chemical and physical characteristics.

As for the primers to be used, we have PLIOLITE PRIMER which is used in case 2 and H595 IMPRIMITURA which is used in case 3.
